The construction industry in Germany resembles a prehistoric giant: strong, enormous, and fossilized. At least, that's the tenor of the authors of The New Building with BIM and Lean, who have written a practical guide on the subject in an entertaining style and packed with facts. It examines the methods and principles of BIM using the example of building an indoor swimming pool. Across more than 200 pages, the authors describe the applied principles and the practical approach of BIM and Lean Construction. The benefits and specific challenges are presented, thus providing a very concrete insight into the subject matter.
And that is also necessary: According to the authors' analysis, Germany is a "BIM emergency zone"; something urgently needs to be done in the construction sector, and the opportunities of digitalization must be seized before time progresses even further.
